UIP10000 – High Power Ultrasonic Clusters

With its 10,000 watts, the UIP10000 is the second largest ultrasonic processor. It is designed to work in clusters of four or more units, for large volume processing, such as homogenizing, dispersing and deagglomeration.

Ultrasonic applications can be scaled up on a straight-line basis. The processing capacity increases with the ultrasonic power applied. Large scale processing applications often require more power than 40kW. In this case, we recommend to use a cluster of UIP10000 or UIP16000.

High Power Ultrasonic Processors

A container holds the complete ultrasonicators with flow cells, pumps and piping.The ultrasonic processor UIP10000 was designed with the dimensions of standard freight containers in mind. Unlike the UIP16000, the UIP10000 allows for a vertical setup of the transducer, together with sonotrode and flow cell in a standard sea freight container. Therefore, a container can be equipped with a cluster of UIP10000 including generators, transducers, sonotrodes, flow cells and closed loop cooling.

In addition to that, a typical turnkey sonication system can hold, pumps, piping, valves and a data-interface. Such a 10ft or 20ft container facilitates transportation, setup and start-up at the customer site. Typically containers come with noise-insulated walls to reduce the noise emissions outside of the container.

Process Scale Up

Each ultrasonic application requires a certain optimal combination of sonication amplitude, liquid pressure and temperature. This optimal configuration can be found in small lab or bench-top scale test, e.g. by using a UIP1000hd (1kW) with flow cell. The UIP1000hd allows for a variation of the sonication parameters in a wide range. Once the optimal parameter configuration has been identified, the process efficiency can be scaled up linearly. Therefore, the turnkey system comes pre-configured to work at the optimal parameter configuration. The table below shows general processing capacities for a 4x10kW high power system.

Container System Start-Up

Using a containerized setup, facilitates the installation and start-up. As the container holds the complete ultrasonic processors with flow cells and piping, the container needs to be connected to the process media supply, power supply, and cooling water, only. Data interfaces are optionally available.

As mentioned above we recommend the conduct of process feasibility trials and a process optimization in small to medium scale.
